PROUD MEMBERS OF JUNIOR A TIER 1 HOCKEY

Brad Wingfield

Raised on the Sunshine Coast, Brad Wingfield is the first graduate of the Sunshine Coast Minor Hockey Association (SCMHA) to advance to the professional ranks. His hockey journey began locally before he moved on to a four-year Junior “A” career in the BCHL, where he developed the foundation that would carry him into his professional career.

Wingfield went on to spend 12 years at the professional level, competing in minor professional leagues and earning opportunities within the organizations of the New York Islanders, Columbus Blue Jackets, Colorado Avalanche, and Minnesota Wild. He also suited up for the Danbury Trashers, gaining valuable experience across a range of competitive environments and team cultures. His time as a professional player provided him with firsthand insight into high-performance standards, preparation, and the demands required to succeed at the next level.

Following his playing career, Wingfield transitioned into coaching and hockey operations, returning to the Sunshine Coast with a strong commitment to player development and community involvement. He served as Director of Hockey Operations for the SCMHA, helping guide local programming and development pathways, and previously coached the SCMHA U18 A1 team.

In addition to his work with SCMHA, Wingfield is a co-founder and coach of NewAngleHKY Development, where he focuses on skill development, mentorship, and preparing athletes for long-term success both on and off the ice. Today, as Head Coach and General Manager of the Coastal Tsunami, Wingfield brings his extensive playing and development background to the bench, emphasizing accountability, growth, and a strong connection to the Sunshine Coast hockey community.
