PROUD MEMBERS OF JUNIOR A TIER 1 HOCKEY

HISTORY

For a complete History of the Tsunami, check out Wikipedia Coastal Tsunami – Wikipedia.

Founded in 2024, the Coastal Tsunami was born from the vision of Stu Frizzell and others who sought to bring junior hockey to the Sunshine Coast. In 2022, the Sunshine Coast Junior Hockey Society was formed, and the first junior hockey showcase games played on the Coast drew over 1,000 spectators, proving the demand for a local team.

Julie Reeves, a respected community leader and managing director of Gibsons Building Supplies, backed the team, providing the foundation for success. That same year, the Pacific Junior Hockey League granted the Coast its team, and the Coastal Tsunami was born.

Led by Brad Wingfield (GM & Head Coach), a former pro player, the team has quickly become a top-tier junior program. Players benefit from elite training, community support, and the opportunity to play in one of the most scenic regions in North America. The Tsunami is committed to developing both athletes and individuals.
