TSUNAMI BLANK KNIGHTS 4-0

Giancarlo Nadeau

The Coastal Tsunami is starting October on a high thanks to a 4-0 victory at home against the Surrey Knights.

It was a game of firsts, with Eric Stinson and Spencer Uzzell-Paulos scoring their first-ever PJHL goals and newly acquired defenceman Caige Starr recording his first-ever PJHL assist.

It didn’t take long for the home team to get the GACC into a frenzy as Ethan Smid (5) opened the scoring just 19 seconds into the opening frame. Raydon Parkes (6) also scored to put the Tsunami up 2-0 after the first period. Parkes’s goal came on the man advantage and would stand as the game’s only power-play goal.

Spencer Uzzell-Paulos picked up his first PJHL goal at the 8:59 mark of the second period. The score was 3-0 going into the third period.

Eric Stinson rounded up the scoring with his first-ever PJHL goal.

Despite the score, Knights goaltender Marcus Taylor had a solid outing, giving Surrey a chance to get into the game all night. He made 26 of 30 stops.

Nick Peters had an ordinary day at the office by his standards as he recorded his second PJHL shutout in back-to-back games. Peters turned aside all 40 shots peppered on him.

The final shots favoured Surrey 40-30, but the score was on the Tsunami’s side tonight.

Coastal will now prepare for games on Tuesday and Wednesday when they visit Delta and Langley.

The squad returns home on Saturday to host Langley for a Thanksgiving-inspired game. Tickets are available at the arena or online.
