The Coastal Tsunami Junior Hockey Club is showing its holiday spirit and commitment to giving back in its inaugural season by raising money for the Sunshine Coast Secret Santa. Players will be out in the community throughout the week collecting donations to support the cause, with funds gathered via cash and card. The team is making it a priority to help local families during the holiday season, and they’re doing so to spread cheer across the Sunshine Coast.
Players can be found at various locations around the community, engaging with fans and encouraging donations for this heartwarming campaign.
The team’s initiative finishes off with two exciting home games before Christmas. On Friday, the Tsunami will face off against North Vancouver in a highly anticipated matchup. The game promises to be filled with energy, as fans are encouraged to don their ugliest Christmas sweaters to celebrate the holiday season. The best-dressed fan will be awarded a $50 gift card to The 101, a local favourite. Players will also wear festive Christmas jerseys, adding to the festive atmosphere.
On Sunday, the Tsunami will host their second game, the Snowball Toss, sponsored by Marino’s Independent Grocer. Fans in attendance will receive a snowball to toss onto the ice when the Tsunami scores their first goal of the game. It’s set to be a fun, family-friendly event that helps raise both funds and spirits for the Secret Santa cause.
As a special highlight, the Christmas-themed jerseys worn by players over the weekend will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going towards the Sunshine Coast Secret Santa. Fans can take home a piece of the team’s inaugural season while helping brighten the holidays for local families in need.
“The Coastal Tsunami is thrilled to be part of such a meaningful community effort,” said Giancarlo Nadeau, the team’s Director of Marketing, Media, & Sales. “The team is bringing great hockey to the Sunshine Coast and reminding everyone of the importance of coming together to support each other during the holiday season,” Nadeau added.
Be sure to mark your calendars and join the festivities at the upcoming games. With the holiday cheer, community spirit, and exciting hockey action, it’s sure to be a memorable weekend for all involved. Tickets are available at the arena and online at coastalhockey.ca.
