The Coastal Tsunami is back in the win column thanks to a 6-2 victory over the Aldergrove Kodiaks on home ice.
Coastal had goals from five players as Oliver Nottingham found the back of the net twice. Nottingham’s second goal of the season opened the scoring at the 12:20 mark of period one, and his third and second of the night gave the Coastal Tsunami their first power-play goal of the season.
Ben Walker and Ethan Nordli recorded their first PJHL goals, while Cameron Ross (3) and Raydon Parkes (4) capped off the scoring for the home team. Ross’s goal would stand to be the game-winner.
Beckham Angus scored both goals for the Kodiaks, his second and third markers of the season. Angus also ended his team’s struggles on the man advantage, scoring a power play goal 2:49 into the third period.
The Kodiaks fired 45 shots on Finn Morrison, who made his first career start and earned his first career win. The New Westminster, BC, product now has a 1.5 goals against average, 0.977 save percentage, and a lot of confidence moving forward.
Despite allowing six goals, Kodiaks goaltender Kyle Spak made tremendous saves during the contest. Hailing from South Surrey, BC, Spak stopped 32 of the 38 shots fired his way.
Coastal has played two of five games in nine days. They visit Delta tomorrow, play in Aldergrove on Wednesday, and host the Grandview Steelers for orange-shirt night on Saturday.
