Happy New Year, Tsunami fam!

Our boys enjoyed a well-earned holiday break, heading home to spend time with family and recharge as they gear up to finish the season strong.

Their first game back was a matchup against the Langley Trappers at the Winter Classic in Richmond on December 30th. The Tsunami have struggled against Langley this season, but something clicked that night, and the boys came out flying, earning a 6–1 victory.

We kicked off 2026 with an at home double-header on January 2nd and 3rd. On the 2nd, the Tsunami hosted the Delta Ice Hawks in a tough game that didn’t go our way, ending in a 7–2 loss.

But the loss didn’t dampen spirits. Before hitting the ice on the 3rd, the vibes were high and the boys were all smiles. The Chilliwack Jets made their first visit to the GACC this season, and fans were treated to an exciting, hard-fought game. While Chilliwack took the win 4–2, it was great to see the Tsunami playing with confidence and energy.

After the final buzzer, we opened the ice for our second annual Winter Skate. Players and fans shared an hour on the ice together, and we also learned an important lesson: it takes at least five kids to take down Lars Derstroff in a hockey fight.

Coming up this week, the Tsunami are back at the GACC on January 10th at 5:00 PM to face the Richmond Sockeyes, before hitting the road on January 11th to take on the Burnaby Steelers.

The Sockeyes are currently sitting 1st in the league, while the Tsunami are at 5th. My challenge to you, Tsunami fam: pack the arena on the 10th and bring the noise. We’ve beaten them once… and we can do it again.

Catch you at the game,
Sassy Tsu 🌊💙
