TSUNAMI TRICKED BY ICE HAWKS

Giancarlo Nadeau

Sunshine Coast, BC – In front of another big crowd, the Coastal Tsunami was ghosted 6-0 by the Delta Ice Hawks tonight.

The Tsunami record now sits at 7-6-1-1, while the Ice Hawks improved to 13-5.

It was a fast-paced game with few whistles and penalties that favored the visitors.

Delta was led offensively by 2004-born forward Ryden Mathieson (10,11,12), who had a hat trick performance. Grady Lenton (4,5) also had a multi-goal night, while Mateo Sjoberg (19) scored once.

One factor that hurt the Tsunami’s chances of winning the game was their inability to capitalize on the man advantage. The squad surrendered two short-handed goals on the same man advantage. Those goals were Delta’s fifth and sixth of the hockey game.

Coastal certainly had their chances to open the scoring, mustering 28 shots on goal, but Delta’s goaltender Zach Shaughnessy had the answers.
