Tsunami Turn the Tide With 5–3 Win in Delta

It was a busy weekend for your Tsunami, with the boys hitting the ice at home on Friday before heading out on the road Saturday!

Friday night, the Tsunami faced off against the Langley Trappers at home for a special evening recognizing the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. The team took to the ice in their special edition Orange Jerseys, and before puck drop, we recognized Indigenous members of the Tsunami organization, Tayvian Delorme, Josh Cymbaluk, and Head Coach & General Manager, Briar McNaney. We were then honoured to welcome singers from the shíshálh Nation to the ice to share a few words and a song. It was a meaningful way to begin the evening and gave everyone in the arena a moment to reflect on the importance of Truth and Reconciliation.

Once the puck dropped, the Tsunami generated plenty of great chances, but Langley made it tough to capitalize. Ben Walker found the back of the net for the Tsunami, but the Trappers ultimately took the game 5–1.

The boys didn’t have much time to dwell on Friday’s result, with another matchup waiting for them Saturday against the Delta Ice Hawks.

The first period was a busy one! Tayvian Delorme and Ben Walker both found the back of the net for the Tsunami, while Delta put three on the board to take a 3–2 lead into the break. Whatever was said during intermission worked. The Tsunami came out flying and shut the door on the Ice Hawks for the rest of the game. Spencer Huth, Max Wingrove, and Ryan Heuser each found the back of the net as the Tsunami scored three unanswered goals to complete the comeback and take home a 5–3 win! The night also marked a special milestone for Max Wingrove, who celebrated his 100th Junior hockey game, and what better way to mark it than with a goal and a Tsunami win!

There won’t be much downtime for the boys, with a busy week of hockey ahead. First up is a rematch with the Langley Trappers on the road Wednesday. From there, the Tsunami head to Ridge Meadows on Friday to face the Flames for the first time this season before returning home Saturday, October 10 for round two against Ridge Meadows.

Let’s fill the stands, make some noise, and help the boys bring home another W!

Pucks & Kisses,
Sassy Tsu 🌊
