Coastal Sports and Entertainment Group Ltd. is pleased to announce that Gilbert Brule has been hired as the Skills Coach for the Pacific Junior Hockey League’s newest franchise based out of Gibsons, British Columbia.
Brule grew up on the North Shore and played for his hometown Western Hockey League team, the Vancouver Giants. He was named the WHL Rookie of the Year in 2004 and was part of Vancouver’s WHL championship-winning team two seasons later.
The former first-round NHL draft pick played 16 seasons of professional hockey in the AHL, NHL, and KHL.
He has lived on the Sunshine Coast for eight years and founded Brule Hockey. For the past two years, Brule has coached players of all ages.
“I’m super excited to be a part of the foundation of the Tsunami family, ” he said.
“It’s such an important piece to add Bru to the Tsunami staff as he has such a storied Hockey career with extensive worldly experience,” said General Manager and Head Coach Brad Wingfield.
“To top it all off, he is a high-character person I’ve had success and enjoyed working with. I expect that to continue and the Tsunami players to benefit from working with and having Bru around,” added Wingfield.
