TSUNAMI COME OUT ON TOP IN MISSION

Giancarlo Nadeau

Mission, BC— The Coastal Tsunami (13-14-1-1) wrapped up their season series against the Mission City Outlaws (8-18-3) with a 4-3 overtime victory.

Coastal led 3-0 after 20 minutes of play thanks to goals from Rocky Nordvie (6), Patrick Dolan (7), and Oliver Nottingham (11). That 3-0 lead lasted until the 9:31 mark of the third period when Kael Kozicki (5) scored to put the Outlaws on the board.

Kozicki (6) would score his second of the night just 10 minutes later to cut the Outlaws’ deficit to one. With 17 seconds remaining in regulation time, the Outlaws took advantage of an icing call against the Tsunami by winning the attacking zone faceoff and getting the game tied at three. Cade Peden scored that goal for Mission (6).

After back-and-forth chances in the first two minutes of the overtime period, Eric Stinson set up Oliver Nottingham (12) for the game-winning goal at 3:16.

Coastal is back in action against the Grandview Steelers on Sunday night.
