The Coastal Tsunami earned a 5-3 victory in Aldergrove tonight thanks to critical performances from several players. Five unanswered goals also went a long way for the Coastal squad.
Aldergrove was up 2-0 at the halfway mark of the first period thanks to goals from Russell (1) and Calder (1). Aldergrove’s first goal came on the man advantage. The Tsunami cut the deficit in half with eleven seconds left when Laszlo Istvanffy scored his second of the season on a power play.
Only one goal was scored in the second period, but the Tsunami scored it and would tie the game at two going into the third period. Hunter Henry fed Oliver Nottingham the puck for his fourth goal of the campaign.
At the start of the third period, the game was tied at two, but the Tsunami scored three goals and went up 5-2 halfway through the frame. Nordvie (1), Walker (3), and Nottingham (5) all recorded goals. The final goal of the game made things a little interesting, as Luke Calder scored a power-play goal for his second of the season to bring Aldergrove within two goals, but that would be the end of the scoring.
The Tsunami finished the game with 54 shots on goal and 31 against. Both teams went two for six on the man advantage.
The Tsunami play their next game on Saturday while hosting the Grandview Steelers for Truth and Reconciliation night.
