It was a BIG week for your Coastal Tsunami!
Heading into the final stretch of the regular season, the Tsunami had just two games left and were tied in points with the Langley Trappers. They set their sights on 2 big wins to finish out the season hot… and they really delivered.
On February 20th, the Tsunami headed to Burnaby to face the Steelers. Now Tsunami fans, I don’t often give you a behind-the-scenes look at how excited I get during games… but here are a few messages I sent during the first period:
“Curtin with the GOAL!!”
“An assist for Burrows!”
“Kominko scoresssssss!”
The energy was electric right from puck drop. The Steelers managed just one goal, capitalizing on a five-on-three opportunity. From there, it was all Tsunami. Nolan Caruso and Ben Walker added to the tally in the second, and the third period saw another from Reegan Kominko, plus goals from Spencer Huth and Raydon Parkes. The final score: 7–1 Tsunami. The spark was lit, and it couldn’t have come at a better time.
The regular season wrapped up on February 21st at home in front of a crowd of more than 700 fans… Tsunami fans truly are the best in the league. Before puck drop, we honoured our 20-year-olds as they enter the final games of their junior careers, a special moment in front of a packed GACC.
Then it was game time, a 5th vs. 6th place showdown.
Langley struck first with two goals, but the Tsunami answered right back with goals from local boys Rocky Nordvie and Lucas Lekakis. The second period was dominated by the Tsunami, starting with a goal just eight seconds in from Foxx McColl, followed by 2 more from Ben Walker and Reegan Kominko.
The third period brought the tension. The Trappers added one more, but Brayden Burrows was an absolute beast between the pipes, facing 48 shots. At one point the crowd attempted a chant of “BURROWS! BURROWS!” as the fans poured every ounce of energy they had into the team on the ice.
After 60 minutes, the Tsunami secured a 5–3 victory, finishing the regular season in 5th place.
And now… playoff hockey.
For the first time in franchise history, the Coastal Tsunami are heading into the playoffs. Round 1 will see the Tsunami take on the Delta Ice Hawks in a best-of-seven series:
• Game 1 – February 23 | Delta | 6:45 PM
• Game 2 – February 26 | GACC | 5:00 PM
• Game 3 – February 28 | Delta | 7:00 PM

• Game 5 – March 3 | Delta | 6:15 PM
• Game 6 – March 6 | GACC | 5:00 PM

Let’s pack the rink, cheer extra loud, and give the boys the push they need to take Round 1.

Sassy Tsu 🌊💙
