Tonight’s game is one that the Coastal Tsunami would like to forget about. The club suffered its first-ever road loss by a final score of 8-3. Delta’s victory has given them a 6-3 record, while the Tsunami’s is 4-2.
Delta was a step ahead of the Tsunami tonight, to say the least, and is well deserving of the two points.
The perfect penalty kill percentage on the road ended for the Tsunami as the Ice Hawks were two for eight on the man advantage. Coastal also scored two power-play goals, going two for five.
The Tsunami had goals from Jake Yakubowski (1), Raydon Parkes (5), and Ben Walker (2). It took Yakubowski four games to score his first PJHL goal.
Four players scored goals for the Delta Ice Hawks, led by a six-point performance from Mateo Sjoberg. The right-shot forward found the back of the net four times and had helpers on two others.
Goyer (4,5), Hoglund (1), and Toledo (1) rounded up the scoring. Hoglund, an affiliate player with the Ice Hawks last season, returned tonight and potted his first PJHL marker.
The next meeting between these two clubs is on October 8, when Coastal visits Delta for the final time during the regular season.
Aldergrove is up next for the Coastal Tsunami, who will visit them tomorrow evening.
